Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

On December 22, 2010, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I’m 14 years old and I’m in 8th grade. I started my first chemo treatment on December 29, 2010. I didn’t think it was so bad, I just had to pee a lot so my bladder didn’t get eaten by Acid! The following week, I received a second treatment of a few other drugs, which made me throw up, but only once. I start my secondt next Wednesday, and I’m kinda worried it won’t be so nice to me… I think I’m starting to lose my hair, but I’m getting a wig to wear. Truth be told, I’m not too concerned about it. When my hair comes out, it comes out. Its not your hair that makes you who you are, its your persTnality! T

    Hi Anna,

I know this is all very new to you. Cancer is certainly something that no one plans for…but so glad you found us!
No doubt, you can find a lot of teens here (and me the not-so-teen) who know exactly what it’s like. Welcome.

My name is Libby and I am 14 as well. Last September I was diagnosed with bone cancer. Even though we don’t have the same cancer, it’d be really cool to talk. I don’t want to sound like a spammer, but you can check out my blog osteosarcomasucks.wordpress.com.

When I lost my hair (it’s still gone now) I was just like, man, this is nice having no hair, haha. I have a wig as well, but I am finding wearing knit hats is much more comfortable.

    Good luck with your fight!

    Hi Anna,
I’m 14 as well and i was just diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on February 9,2011. I just started chemo last week and it hasn’t really had too bad of affects on me. Only some numbness in my fingertips and a tiny bit of nausea that is being controlled by some meds. I was hoping we could maybe talk sometime seeing as we are going through the same thing at the same age which is sorta ironic. Your probably pretty far into your chemo treatment by now but i would love to compare our experiences. My hair hasn’t started to fall out yet but I’m sorta worried about when it will even if I am going to get a wig. Anywho hope all is well with your treatment!
