New to the cancer word

Hi there my names Destiny, I just got diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma located on the right side of my face. I can’t take pills so all my meds are in liquid form. I’m 14 years old, I live with my parents and four annoying siblings.  I started my chemo treatment on December 23 I don’t remember Christmas eve and Christmas day because I was so sick. I start radiation in mid January, I;m wondering how bad I might feel after the radiation? My family has been there for me, and some of my family members have gone bold for me. My dad let me shave his head it was so fun and a little scary.

Destiny, keep up a good attitude! I didn’t have radiation but was still very sick from the chemos that I recieved. Im 16, and was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when I was 13. I am over my treatments and cancer free. I learned that you HAVE to Take things day by day, one day at a time and you will get through! You have to look at everything “on the bright side” even though it can be hard. These tools will help you fight better :) Also its awesome your family is there for you! thats the best thing ever! Them going bald is very brave :) I’ll be praying for you. This stuff is overwhelming so if you need anything, email me! I looooove to talk. I could talk all day long, especially on the computer :D well hope to hear from you :)

    Hi Destiny,
My name is Kathleen Anderson, my son Michael (14) was just diagnosed with Rhabdomyscarcoma too, just like you, days before Christmas. His tumor is in his abdomen. He started his chemo on Christmas Eve. His treatment plan is an agressive 1-year program. He gets his treatment at the University of Michigan.
I hope you are doing well with your chemo and radiation treatments. Michael has been pretty sick, but is getting a little better; enough to start eating again. You two may be interested in talking to each other… Ask your parents if it is Ok. Have your parents email me at

Keep your chin up! You can beat this.
    God Bless,
    Kathleen Anderson
